Building software
- Languages
- Rust and Python first. TypeScript and JavaScript for the web, C or C++ when a project needs it.
- Frontend
- TypeScript with React or Vue, or Hugo for fast static websites.
- Mobile
- Expo with React Native.
- Backend
- Rust. PHP only when a project requires it.
- Database
- MySQL.
- Workflow
- Git-based development workflow.
Running servers
- Servers
- Linux, with Nginx or Apache.
- Automation
- Shell and PowerShell scripts, and Ansible when many servers need the same configuration.
- Virtualization
- Proxmox VE, with Proxmox Backup Server for backups.
- Storage
- ZFS, including snapshot scripts and replication between servers with zfs send and receive.
- Backups
- Backup scripts for automated daily backups, including offsite copies to Backblaze B2.
- Security
- Server hardening, including firewall configuration.
- Monitoring
- Zabbix installation, configuration, and monitoring setup.
- Containers
- Docker, when a project calls for it. Also have experience with Kubernetes.
Also experienced with
- Cloud
- AWS, including EC2, S3, and CloudFront. DigitalOcean for virtual servers.
- Cloudflare
- Configuration, including the Web Application Firewall (WAF).
- Other languages
- Go, and Node.js for server-side JavaScript, among others.
